In the village of Grimley, in Northern England, the conductor of the Colliery Brass Band is having difficulty maintaining the morale of his musicians as the economic future of the area is threatened by the possible closure of the coal mine.
The band, its members and families, are struggling to make ends meet. Do they vote to keep the mine open or accept the large redundancy from management which will likely end the mine forever.
When Gloria arrives to assess the mine on behalf of management, she finds her loyalties between the band and the mining company being questioned.
Brassed Off is an emotional roller coaster, a journey of survival, love, laughter and loss.
